From Patricia: An Encounter

Many wonderful metaphysical writers of the 20th century lived in Los Angeles. Ernest Holmes, who created Religious Science, lived in Palms and Venice Beach for many years. I've driven by his former house on Lorraine St. in Hancock Park., not far from his "Founders Church."
Another favorite of mine, Dr. Joseph Murphy, lived in Beverly Hills off Robertson and Olympic, and I've seen his house. And Neville Goddard (who preferred being called "Neville") lived in the Pico area a block from Beverly Hills.
Murphy and Neville lectured weekly at the Wilshire Ebell Theater throughout the 1960's and early 1970's---Neville on Wednesday nights and Murphy on Sunday mornings.
Every time I drive by the Wilshire Ebell, I think of how amazing it was for "spiritual seekers" of that era----they could actually see Joseph Murphy and Neville every single week if they wanted to!
Neville's daughter, Victoria Goddard, lives in her family house on La Peer Dr. (her beloved dad died in 1972). A friend of mine who runs the Neville Yahoo forum told me she lives there alone and has for many years.
Last Wednesday afternoon I was driving down La Peer near Pico---on my way to Palms--- and said to myself....."I wish I could meet Neville's daughter." Right then, as I drove by the Goddard house--- I saw Victoria get out of her car and carry a bag of groceries to her front door.
Then she went inside the house.
She's tall, thin, has short white hair and is close to 70. She was born around 1941. I wanted to tell her how much I appreciate her dad's wisdom, but I've heard she's a "private person" and doesn't like enthusiastic Neville-ites (like me) bothering her! So I refrained.
Still, it was wonderful to see Neville's daughter. Neville is a legend in the metaphysical world. His books are still published and hundreds of his lectures are available on the internet.
The more I listen to (and read) Esther Hicks' words of wisdom, the more I understand and appreciate Neville, because they share the same beautiful teachings of LOA.
